…but I thought I’d at least do something productive with my time while I sort through the detritus and determine what I feel about the whole thing.
Never done a blog before…well, that’s not exactly true. I started one a few years back that was supposed to be what I hope this thing will end up being—a repository to just dump the anxiety and toxins that seem to build up in me every few days regarding any one of a multitude of subjects. I stopped writing because…who knows. Sometimes stuff just happens. I want it to be different this time.
As for this thing…I want it to be smart and I want it to be fair and I want it to invite criticism. The past few months on Facebook have given me hope that all that is possible. Thanks to all my friends there who suffered through my postings and my comments. I invite you all to participate in what I’m trying to do here and engage. If you know me (and hopefully soon, more of you will), you’ll know that I hate dead air. I like to instigate…throw some wood on a fire to see how high it can go…push conversations past pleasantries and into what we’re really interested in knowing anyway. Challenging everyone to show what their words and actions only hint at…and try to conceal.
PLEASE comment…Disagree with me. Call me names. Show me why I’ve got my head up my ass. I don’t get mad at things like that, and I hope that you won’t either. I guess I imagine this as a sort of intellectual Fight Club. So come on in and get dirty with me.
Anyway, hopefully this will end up being more than just another failed new year’s resolution. There’ll be lots of politics, some sports, personal stories, and maybe some other stuff thrown in just for fun. I invited another Facebook friend of mine to come join the fun with me here as co-host. He happens to disagree with me on just about everything and is also an excellent writer, so I think it could be lots of fun. I’ll let you know how that turns out.

Good luck with your blog. It’s great to see you putting yourself out there and getting some conversation rolling. I definitely plan to stop in once in a while to see what you’re stirring. It’s great and I’m sure it will be very well received. Don’t give up on your friend to join you in placing posts. The only piece of advice I’d give you is don’t put up with name calling. In my opinion, it’s destructive and leads to nowhere. Conversations and disagreements should be had without low balling. So, good luck and I’ll be talking to ya! – Marina
