What, he couldn’t blame global warming?

In the comments, which were posted on a militant Web site and obtained by the SITE Monitoring Service, al-Zawahiri described Israel’s actions in Gaza as a “crusade against Islam and Muslims” and called it “Obama’s gift to Israel” before he takes office later this month.

“This is Obama whom the American machine of lies tried to portray as the rescuer who will change the policy of America,” al-Zawahiri said, according to SITE. “He kills your brothers and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection.”

Interesting on so many levels.

First, I’ll bet at least half of the 52% of Americans who voted for Obama actually thought the oceans would split and daffodils would fall like rain after November 4th. World leaders of every stripe would be so impressed with Obama that they’d fall in line behind the One in a lockstep march to global peace. Apparently, not so much.

Second, how come it seems that every time a murdering Islamist opens his mouth, he’s blaming everyone except himself for the consequences of his actions? It sounds almost too juvenile to be taken seriously, but the more you read, the more consistent the message is. “We are children. We are not responsible for ourselves. It’s your fault that we hurt you.”

Finally, what do regular everyday Muslims think of all this? Hard to say, since we are very rarely treated to their reactions in the press. We always seem to get plenty of outraged Islamist reaction. What about Muslims like you and me? Who get up in the morning, kiss their children and go to work? Do they roll their eyes when someone like Zawahiri accuses Obama of killing their brothers and sisters in Gaza? Do they even consider these people brothers and sisters?

Damn, it’s times like this that I just wish Obama would be sworn in already.
