Bush was unfairly demonized, but no one abroad thought he was predictably soft and would be so-so about protecting US interests, or that his words and his deeds would be so often in direct antithesis.

You see football teams do it all the time. They draw up a game plan and script plays to start a game. But when the opposition stuffs you and it becomes evident that your plan is not going to get it done . . . what smart teams usually do is to switch it up at half-time.

I think Obama needs to do that now. Quickly, please.
