Hello There Readers!

Hi! I’m the newest addition to TrueSailingisDead and I still can’t believe I agreed to do this. I can’t write anywhere near as well as Al does and I tend to loose my point halfway through so although I’ve started a few draft posts, I’ve abandoned them because I completely lost track of where I was going with them (I even posted one by mistake!). I’m trying to get my head out of the clouds and maybe put a few coherent sentences together. I hope you will bear with me.

My politics aren’t anywhere near as conservative as Al’s, however this President and this Congress is launching me further to the right than even I thought was possible. It surprises me that I tend to agree with Al more ofthen than not these days, but there are some days when I really disagree with him! I’m not a capitalist hater, but not a progressive either. I’m a big believer in the middle (think we could start a party called “Middleism” or Middlests? yeah, sounds too much like Middle East so scrap that) because I think that is the best course of action for our country. We are made up of too many different peoples to lean completely one way or the other. And I think that the US can’t be compared to other countries like France or Canada or Sweeden where the populations are far more homogenous than ours. I think it is really hard for different people to get along especially here where we run the gammet from homeless to uber rich living in roughly the same neighborhoods.

I have come to believe that almost all the politicians in Washington, no matter what side of the asile they sit on, are just in it for the money or the power and are not all that interested in helping out their constituants, unless of course, its time to campaign and they need votes. I don’t think there is a “label” for the things I believe in becasue I criss cross on so many issues. In fact, I actually hate labels and cringe whenever I hear or read blanket description of “liberals” or “conservatives”. This is America and we all need to think for ourselves; if that means disagreeing with the pack once in a while, then so be it. So I’m a little disillusioned, but not bitter. I still think that its possible to make our country stronger. Just how are we going to get there is the where the debate begins.

Al, this was so much easier back then in English class! All I can tell you folks is that I think what I think. I may be wrong but at least I’ve given it some thought!

So, on that note, I think I’ll leave this post for now and go think about what I’m going to say next.
